Fantasy Warrior Lady

Decided to a character concept from a reference photo for practice. Searched through DeviantArt for a stock / ref photo and found the pose I wanted. Originally this was going to be 2D comic art style, but I decided to flesh it out into a full painting in the end. I got the stock photo from here, lots of good poses and props.

I painted this using things I learnt both from Dan Luvisi and Charlie Bowater‘s tutorials. Bowater’s is on Skillshare (which everyone should check out) and Luvisi recently released his tutorial on Gumroad. Luvisi’s tutorial is extremely inspiring as he goes into depth about bringing his own IP to life (Last Man Standing), creating his book, working on rubbish job’s and getting a movie made out of his own characters and story. Seriously worth a watch, or just a listen. Never stop learning!

I might give this piece a background at some point, give it a bit of story maybe. Maybe…
I’ve included some process steps and details below too.

Ta ta.
